The legendary Terracotta Army of the first Chinese emperor is showcased in Budapest starting from 28 May. The thousands of clay figurines found in the first Qin Dynasty ruler Chin Shih Huang-ti 's tomb have been dubbed the eighth wonder of the world. Visitors can admire the replicas of the thousands of years old human and animal figurines at first hand at VAM Design Center in Király street.
In 210 BC, Chin Shih Huang-ti Chinese emperor died. He had ordered the magnificent tomb still in his life. Since he was the first and last member of the imperial dynasty, the existence of the tomb was quickly forgotten. Peasants from Hsiang-based Shenhsi province, while drilling a well in 1974, found the tomb of the first Chinese emperor. At first no one believed the news that a huge, life-size army of warriors made of terracotta clay was found. The origin of the treasure, however, quickly got proved and in 1987 it was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
